Maui Police removed a fifth individual from the Lahaina fire missing list as recently as October. Officers tasked with finding missing persons from the inferno, or, the remains of Lahaina’s missing, are still searching the burn zone. Details concerning the three remaining people on the Lahaina fire credible missing list have not been previously reported. “Robert Owens, he was known to frequent Lahaina,” Landsiedel said. New York CNN —The Girl Scouts are discontinuing a popular cookie just a year after its debut sparked a frenzy. Raspberry Rally won’t be sold this upcoming cookie-sales season, which runs January to April 2024, Girl Scouts of the USA has announced. “While Raspberry Rally was extremely popular last year, we are taking a pause this season to prioritize supplying our classic varieties,” the Girl Scouts of the USA said in a statement to CNN. But Girl Scouts learned last year that there is a market for higher-priced cookies, thanks to the Raspberry Rally debacle. The Rallies changed hands several times higher than their listed price, to the likely frustration of the Girl Scouts leadership.

New York CNN —Girl Scout cookies are getting more expensive. But now the higher price will apply to other cookies that the troops sell, including the more classic varieties. Girl Scout cookie prices have been rising from $5 to $6. “Each of our 111 Girl Scout councils sets local Girl Scout Cookie prices based on several factors,” a spokesperson for Girl Scouts of the USA told CNN. But Girl Scouts learned last year that there is a market for higher-priced cookies, thanks to the Raspberry Rally debacle.

The couple behind Crumbs Bake Shop said they don't regret selling it even though it eventually failed. The couple bought the Crumbs brand back again seven years after it went bankrupt. Gus Lubin / Business Insider"We watched from the sidelines as the business suffered," Jason told Insider. After Crumb's collapse, Jason started a real estate brokerage that he operated for three years. Jason said he enjoyed his WeWork stint, but their cupcake business was always at the back of the couple's minds.

Jason and Mia Bauer, who founded Crumbs Bake Shop in 2003 are now back with an online cupcake store. Crumbs Bake Shop, a hugely popular cupcake store founded in 2003, has been revived by founders Jason and Mia Bauer. They bought back the brand last year — seven years after it filed for bankruptcy, the New York Post reported on May 2. "We felt we left it in the hands of people who would grow it," Jason told the New York Post on Tuesday. "Fast forward to 2023, and we now have the ability to communicate with our consumers via social media without having to be in a physical store," Jason told the media outlet.
Why Barnes & Noble Is Copying Local Bookstores It Once Threatened Barnes & Noble grew into a bookselling powerhouse thanks in part to the rapid expansion of its cookie-cutter retail locations. After years of struggling against e-commerce, it’s adopted a local strategy, empowering individual stores to decide on inventory and displays. Photo illustration: Ryan Trefes
New York CNN —For decades, Girl Scouts has used cookie sales to raise funds and teach scouts about entrepreneurship. “Right now we are focused on ensuring all Girl Scouts have a successful Cookie Season,” Girl Scouts USA told CNN in a statement, adding that it is also focused on optimizing its operations “in real-time, and [capturing] learnings that will inform our strategy going into future seasons.”But for the scouts, those learnings have been hard-won. That meant shoppers could order it themselves, though Girl Scouts encouraged them to ask scouts to place the orders. Plus, Girl Scouts built a lot of hype with the limited-time offer, creating a sense of urgency, Esper noted. When I first read about the new Girl Scout cookie flavor that was flying off digital shelves and selling for hundreds of dollars on eBay, I was skeptical. I like Girl Scout cookies as much as the next guy — my favorites are Trefoils and Lemon-Ups — but I couldn't imagine myself visiting the resale market to get my hands on a box. They're described as a "thin, crispy cookie infused with raspberry flavor, dipped in chocolaty coating." After tasting the Rallys for the first time, it was pretty evident why the Girl Scouts haven't been able to keep it in stock. The Girl Scouts organization itself has released a statement criticizing resellers for "looking to make a profit off of the name without supporting our mission and the largest girl-led entrepreneurship program in the world."
New York CNN —The Raspberry Rally Girl Scouts cookie, a raspberry-flavored version of the beloved Thin Mint, was always supposed to be a limited edition item. The new Girl Scouts cookie sold out in hours. But profits from the resale market don’t go to Girl Scouts, which said it was “disappointed” that the products are now available through other vendors. “Girl Scouts of the USA, your local Girl Scout council, and our licensed cookie bakers cannot guarantee the freshness or integrity of cookies bought through unauthorized sites.” To buy cookies from Girl Scouts directly, customers should use the Cooke Finder on the Scouts’ website, Girl Scouts said. “We strongly support the entrepreneurial spirit of hardworking local Girl Scout troops and encourage cookie-seekers to also support their local Girl Scouts,” eBay said in a statement to CNN.
I put my taste buds to the test to determine the ultimate ranking, from worst to best, of Girl Scout cookies. I tried 12 flavors that are all available this year. Representatives from the organization told me that the cookie season generally takes place from January to April, depending on the local market and Girl Scout council decisions (some start in December). I reviewed the cookies to help you decide which ones are worth buying and which are worth skipping. But after tasting these 12 flavors available this year, I might have a tougher time deciding which cookie to reach for.
But first, dark days on Wall Street. Two of the most high-profile firms on Wall Street — Goldman Sachs and BlackRock — made job cuts that impacted thousands of workers. All of that is to say, after a good run of things on Wall Street, the tide is starting to turn. I called a Wall Street recruiter to pick their brain on advice they'd give to those who just lost their jobs. Wall Street did not have a good showing on a list of the best places to work.
